We're looking for bands who are fabulous and who rock. Right now we are booking Thursday and Friday nights only. New bands, bands with a following who want a new venue, out of town bands who need a good place to play in NYC. Please be professional and do not suck.
What we aren't looking for: No hardcore, no metal (unless you're really glam). Not a condemnation of these music forms, just that there are better venues for them. NO EMO. (We hope to book singer/songwriters, country, Americana/alt.country in the future, but aren't doing so right now - send your info if you like but understand that we may not get back to you immediately.)
Sparkle, make a good impression, dazzle us with your talent.
Please give us time to review your material. We already have a healthy backlog of mail from the months the club was not actively booking.
If your band has a web site with mp3's, email us at catbar.booking at gmail dot com (replace at with @ and dot with gmail.com, this is so we don't get spammed). Do NOT send us mp3's or any attachments. We will delete any email with attachments unread.
Snail mail submissions are possible - please send a demo (CD's only, we have no way to play tapes), bio and contact info (please make sure a phone number is written on the CD) Attn: Catbar Booking, 96 Greenwich Ave., New York, NY 10006. It helps a lot if you include a photo, and it wouldn't hurt to drop us an email to let us know your package is coming!
In both cases, be sure to provide us with information about other places you've played and bands you've played with. If you are a local band, please be sure we know that. If you are a touring band, please put the dates you are touring on the outside of the envelope (or in the subject line of the email).
If we like your band, we will call you. No phone calls and no drop-ins, please.
